3.1MW Rooftop Solar Power System to Fast-Moving Consumer Goods and Printing Factories in Java Island

2022.10.17[Press Release]

Alamport Inc., NiX Co., Ltd. and Shizen Energy Inc., through PT ATW Alam Hijau, a joint venture company in Indonesia, have been jointly developing a project to install 3.1MW Rooftop Solar Power System to Fast-Moving Consumer Goods and Printing Factories in Java Island,   and this project has been selected by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan for  Financing Programme for the Joint Crediting Mechanism (“JCM”) Model Projects (“JCM Model Projects”) [1] in FY2022.

The JCM Model Project is implemented in cooperation with the Indonesian and Japanese governments, and this selected project will install a total of 3.1 MW solar power generation systems on the roofs of the Karawang Plant of PT Kao Indonesia (Kao Corporation Indonesian local subsidiary) and Karawang Plant of PT DNP Indonesia (Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. Indonesian local subsidiary), located on the island of Java. Both companies are participants in the international consortium.

PT Kao Indonesia and PT DNP Indonesia can reduce their electricity bills by using competitively priced clean renewable energy sources without any initial investment. In addition, by switching a portion of their electricity consumption to renewable energy sources, the project will contribute to the effective reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) in their business activities. The project is expected to reduce GHG emissions by 2,658 tCO2/year, which will contribute to achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2060, which is the goal of the Indonesian government.
