juwi Shizen Energy Concludes Commitment Line Agreement with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation using SDGs Promotion Syndicated Loan

juwi Shizen Energy Inc. (juwi Shizen Energy)  has signed a commitment line agreement for ¥1.5 billion, using the  “SDGs promotion syndicated loan” scheme with  Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) as the arranger.

1. Purpose of Syndicated Loan Agreement

juwi Shizen Energy has secured a syndicated loan in the form of a commitment line of credit to provide stable and flexible working capital for the commissioned construction of renewable energy power plants throughout Japan.

3. About ” SDGs promotion syndicated loan”

In the “SDGs promotion syndicated loan,” Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and the Japan Research Institute, Limited, confirm the current status of the company’s SDGs initiatives, analyze the logic behind the company’s contribution to SDGs through its core business, and provide advice on how to promote SDGs initiatives, when executing the syndicated loan.

juwi Shizen Energy has been positively evaluated as a company that “is expected to contribute to achieving the goals of the SDGs, “ through its core business of development, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of solar power plants.

juwi Shizen Energy aims to contribute to the SDGs Target 7: ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all, and Target 7.2: by 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix. It also aims to make further contributions in the areas of industrial improvement using related new technologies and improving “job satisfaction” in the working environment.

juwi Shizen Energy was founded in 2013 as a joint venture between Shizen Energy Inc. (Shizen Energy), a company that develops and finances renewable energy power plants, and juwi AG (currently JUWI GmbH), a global renewable energy power plant development and EPC company based in Germany.  In addition to projects developed by Shizen Energy, juwi Shizen Energy has also been commissioned as an  EPC contractor for construction projects, including a large-scale solar power plant with an output of approximately 25 MW (DC) completed in November 2021 in Miyagi Prefecture and large-scale solar power plants with outputs of approximately 42 and 54 MW (DC) completed in January and May 2022, respectively, in Tochigi Prefecture. Construction is also currently underway on two of the largest solar power plants in Japan, the Azuma Kofuji Solar Power Plant (100MW (DC)) and the Pacifico Energy Sanda Mega solar (121MW (DC)), with a total output of over 200MW (DC).

juwi Shizen Energy will contribute to building a sustainable society through the construction of high-quality, community-based renewable energy power plants, utilizing the knowledge and experience it has accumulated in Japan and overseas.
