Shizen Energy and AISIN sign corporate PPA for 5.2 MWp

1 of 3 locations in Japan completed and handed over

2023.02.08[Press Release]

Shizen Energy Inc. (Shizen Energy) and AISIN Corporation (AISIN) have signed a long-term power purchase agreement based on the on-site PPA model (*1), utilizing  roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar power generation systems with a capacity of approximately 5,264.23kWp (DC).  Construction for one of the three project locations has been completed and was handed over to AISIN on February 1.

Under this agreement, Shizen Energy and AISIN will install roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar power generation systems at four of AISIN’s Japanese facilities (Nishio Plant, Ogawa Plant, Shintoyo Plant, and building of the Head Office area) and at the Head Office Plant of AISIN TAKAOKA CO., LTD. The use of clean and competitive renewable energy-derived electricity at the plants is expected to reduce electricity costs while reducing CO2 emissions by 51,127 tons over the 20-year contract period. The power generation systems for Nishio Plant and Ogawa Plant have been completed, and have been handed over to AISIN.

In 2020 and 2021, Shizen Energy signed corporate PPAs with Aisin Thai Automotive Casting Co., Ltd., a joint venture between AISIN and Toyota Tsusho (Thailand) Co., Ltd., for a total of 3.7 MW in Thailand (on October 29, 2020 and November 11, 2021). The new PPA is the first contract for Shizen Energy to sign with AISIN for power generation systems in Japan, and this new endeavor will provide further decarbonization solutions to the AISIN Group.

In order to “take action for the blue planet,” Shizen Energy will flexibly respond to various needs such as decarbonization and strengthening energy resilience by combining digital technologies such as EMS and storage batteries with the development of renewable energy power sources that exist in harmony with local communities. Together with partners, Shizen Energy aims to realize a 100% renewable energy world as soon as possible.
