Shizen Energy and Dynax celebrate commencement of solar facility in Tomakomai industrial area in Hokkaido

2023.10.11[Press Release]

Dynax Corporation (Dynax) and Shizen Energy Inc. (Shizen Energy) celebrated the commencement of a 3.85 MWp(DC) solar power plant that will provide direct power supply to the Dynax Tomakomai Plant using an off-site PPA model with private lines based on a corporate PPA signed in 2022.

The ceremony was attended by Tomakomai Mayor Hirofumi Iwakura, Representative Director Yasuhiro Tsuji of Tomatoh Inc., the company that owns the land on which the facilities were installed, and members of Dynax and Shizen Energy.

Construction of this facility began in November 2022 on 62,621㎡ of land leased from Tomatoh in the Rinku Kashiwabara district in the eastern Tomakomai of Hokkaido, the largest industrial area in Japan. One of the features of the facility is that while the power source is installed off-site, a private line is installed in the area, enabling direct supply from the power generation facility to the Dynax Tomakomai Plant (Tomakomai City, Hokkaido). This facility was successfully completed in September 2023 and started operation on October 1, 2023.

In this project, Shizen Energy will utilize the PPA model and provide services such as the installation of solar power generation facilities, supply and demand management, and operation and maintenance of the facilities. The electricity generated by this facility will be consumed 100% in-house at the Dynax Tomakomai Plant, contributing to CO2 and energy conservation. This will promote the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy in the procurement of energy for business operations and contribute to the realization of a decarbonized and recycling-oriented society that Dynax aims to achieve.

This project is one of the largest private consumption and private line corporate PPAs in Hokkaido.(*1)
