Shizen Energy Reaches 100 MW Mark in Long-Term Renewable Energy Purchase Agreements with Microsoft for Japan Solar Projects
Shizen Energy Inc. (Shizen Energy) has reached 100 MW of executed Renewable Energy Purchase Agreements with Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) for four solar power projects in Japan. After the execution of the Purchase Agreement for the Inuyama Solar Power Plant (*1), Microsoft’s first Renewable Energy Purchase deal in Japan, three additional 20-year agreements have been signed.
The newly added solar power plants are located in the Kyushu and Chugoku regions. All projects have reached financial close. One of the power plants in the Kyushu region has started operations. The other projects are currently under construction, one of which will be constructed by Shizen Energy’s wholly owned EPC Company, Shizen Engineering Inc.. All projects will be operated by Shizen Operations Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary focusing on operation and asset management.
Rei Ushikubo, Executive Officer of Shizen Energy said: “Following the Inuyama Project, we are honored to have signed long-term agreements with Microsoft for several new projects. We believe that securing financing from domestic and international financial institutions for these projects is proof of the growing presence of Renewable Power Purchase Agreements in the Japanese market. We will continue to prioritize our power purchase agreement business to support our customers’ decarbonization efforts. “
Shizen Energy is dedicated to continuing its leadership in the domestic and international power purchase agreement markets, with the aim of accelerating the integration of renewable energy for corporations and ultimately achieving a sustainable society.
